21st Century Skills

The intentional social and emotional development of children has been the core vision of Banner Day Camp since it opened in 1964.

While Banner didn’t use terms like 21st Century Skills when it first opened, teaching children empathy, resiliency, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity is and always has been the central goal in all that we do at Banner. Check out our video as former campers and staff, parents and Banner Day Camp directors share the tremendous value of a summer spent at Banner.

I have a conviction that a few weeks spent in a well-organized summer camp may be of more value educationally than a whole year of formal school work.Charles Eliot, the 21st president of Harvard University

Banner Day Camp is the perfect bridge between the school years as your child will have the opportunity to develop these skills that are so paramount for a successful and happy future in our rapidly changing world.
As schools focus more and more on academic readiness, a summer spent at a well-organized camp, like Banner, promotes that important development of social and emotional intelligence.
