Commitment to Safety
At Banner, we strive to be a truly safe place – physically and emotionally – where children explore new skills with confidence. We believe that safety is a basic camp responsibility. An unparalleled camper-to-counselor ratio of approximately three campers per staff member assures personalized attention every day. Leadership Team members are present at all activities to bring professional experience and supervision to all aspects of camp. Banner Day Camp staff members complete extensive training in health and safety. Every staff member participates in an intensive week long orientation before campers arrive. Banner’s on-site infirmary is staffed with registered nurses. All of our equipment and facilities measure up to the highest safety standards. Only when children are protected and secure, can we start thinking about ways to have fun!

Lunch Program
Lunchtime is a great opportunity to relax and recharge with friends in a comfortable setting. Campers eat their meals in our air-conditioned dining hall Monday through Thursday. On Friday, all campers eat in our outdoor cookout area, under the shade of mature oak trees.

Banner campers have multiple lunch options available…

  • Five day per week hot lunch program including Friday cookout.
  • Sack lunch brought from home Monday through Thursday with Friday cookout.
  • Sack lunch brought from home Monday through Friday.

Sack Lunch
Campers have the option of bringing a sack lunch to camp. All sack lunches brought from home will be refrigerated upon arrival at camp.

Hot Lunch
Banner’s delicious, child-friendly hot lunch program appeals to the demanding appetites of campers and also provides a terrific convenience for busy camp families. The majority of Banner campers choose to participate in the hot lunch program. Campers who choose hot lunch may also pre-select from alternative lunch options. Alternative lunch options include a variety of sandwiches (turkey, peanut butter and jelly, bagel and cream cheese) or baked potato bar, chips and a yogurt cup. Campers who participate in the hot lunch program also have the option of pre-selecting to have hot lunch on certain days and cold lunch on other days. All campers are given a choice of milk, water or juice drink with lunch.

Hot Lunch Menu
Monday: Hamburger, baked smiley-face potatoes, applesauce.
Tuesday: Chicken nuggets (baked), mashed potatoes, celery sticks, orange wedges.
Wednesday: Macaroni and cheese, tossed salad w/ranch dressing, garlic bread.
Thursday: Pizza (choice of cheese or sausage), carrot sticks, apple slices.
Friday: Hot dog cookout, potato chips, pickle spears.
(Menu subject to change)

Snacks
Beverages and snacks are available to all Banner campers throughout the day. This ensures that campers have continuous opportunities to refuel and stay healthy. Water coolers are located throughout the camp to keep campers well hydrated as they enjoy their activities. All campers can visit the snack station daily to enjoy healthy options such as carrots and celery sticks with ranch dip, yogurt and graham crackers. At the end of the day, campers enjoy a tasty frozen treat with their groups!

Special Dietary Needs and Food Allergies
Banner is very responsive to the individualized dietary needs of our campers. If your camper has specific dietary needs or food allergies, your child’s age level Leadership Team member will work with you throughout camp to develop an individualized food plan. Parents and Leadership Team members will continue to communicate regularly to monitor any dietary needs. Banner will take whatever steps necessary to ensure that campers are safe and comfortable at all times. It is our safety recommendation that camper’s with special dietary needs and severe food allergies bring a sack lunch from home. A small shoe box of safe treats sent from home should also be kept at camp. This assures that campers with specific dietary can enjoy a special treat with their group during birthdays and other occasions.
